Low energy house in Seest

A good example, how the energy efficiency can be achived in single family house, both in technologycal and architectural aspects, is presented by the low-energy house built in Seest near Kolding in Denmark.

According to the Danish Building Regulations, the need for heating in the Seest low-energy house is estimated to 1 litre oil/m2/year compared to a maximum limit of 5.5 litres. In reality, the need for heating will be bigger, as the Building Regulations under-estimate the Danes’ indoor temperature to be 20oC.

Passive house - how it is built in Italy?

In Cherasco, Italy, on April 2005 the first passive house with a total useable surface of 240 m2 was constructed and put into service. The total investment costs amounted to 300,000 €.

Passive house is regarded as a very energy efficient building. In such buildings conventional fuels or electricity are considered only as auxiliary sources of energy.

The design of the new Econcern office building in Utrecht (the Netherlands) is a good example of a sustainable building with a zero energy balance.

Zero-energy house is a perfectly insulated building with a very low heat demand, a building that does not use fossil fuels, and in which energy is derived from renewable sources, such as solar energy, wind and biomass. Also in this type of building, similarly to passive houses, energy generated inside the building by residents, computers, bulbs, domestic appliances, etc. is used.
